Starbucks Corp. (NASDAQ: SBUX) has made a trio of holiday themed announcements designed to get its fans into the holiday spirit. One announcement regarded the launch of its fourth annual “Starbucks for Life” holiday contest. The contest runs from Nov. 27 to Dec. 31.
The Starbucks for Life contest is open to members of the chain’s loyalty program, Starbucks Rewards. All members have to do to enter the contest is use their accounts to make a “qualifying purchase” of a Starbucks menu item. The purchase will earn them either a game piece that applies to the contest or an instant prize.
The coffeehouse chain will give out $1.6 million in prizes as part of the event. Five customers will earn the grand prize of a daily credit for one food or drink item for 30 years. The grand prize has a retail value of $56,575. Other prizes include free Starbucks for a year, 6 months, or 3 months. Bonus stars, free drinks and discounts also will be awarded.
Customers who aren’t members of the Starbucks Rewards program can enter the “30 Days of Starbucks” contest. Those prizes include 30 days of free drinks and other discounts. You can learn more about the contests and find contest terms at www.starbucksforlife.com and www.30daysofstarbucks.com.
Starbucks has also unveiled a new holiday-themed menu item, the Juniper Latte. The new drink is an espresso beverage containing hints of juniper and sage with an evergreen aroma and citrus notes. Instead of whipped cream, it’s topped off with layers of pine-citrus sugar dusted foam.
The Juniper Latte debuted last year at the Starbucks Reserve Roastery in Seattle. The drink is now available for a limited time at participating locations, while supplies last. The Chestnut Praline Latte, Peppermint Mocha, Caramel Brulée Latte, Eggnog Latte, and Gingerbread Latte will also be available this holiday season.
